Boehner’s new proposal: We’ll raise the debt ceiling — if we cut spending by the same amount; Update: Kyl wants $6 trillion in cuts « Hot Air

I like the idea except that the spending cuts are spread out over 10 years, which still leaves some room for politicians to manipulate the numbers. Still, it should be the minimum we settle for in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.

I'm firmly convinced we won't see any real cuts until we are pretty much bankrupt.

Probably. We have turned into a pretty reactionary society.

Don't fix it until its entirely broke (pun intended).

We won't see any real cuts from the right. All they will do is continue to go after dems plan that just nickle and dime things down, while hurting many people instead of going after the pork like they should. Obama needs to stand his ground like he stated and hammer the right to make some real cuts to the pork like defense and the tax cuts for the rich.

Even a nickle or a dime cut would be more than the dems have done for the past 4 years.
