I feel sorry for people whose political opinions take this form.
So petty, so immature, so far away from any kind of rational disagreement about policy.
It is a tragedy that the media and the political parties give attention to crap like the above and not reasoned, articulate and knowledgeable debate on the issues.
Please do all the rest of us in the country, liberals and conservatives alike, and just don't vote. I'd rather see elections decided by real issues and not blubbering, angry, mindless ideology.
That sentence described obama better than any conservative could.
Immigration reform is such a broad issue, it's not even close to being contained within two party lines. Positive developments is that the last two years, record numbers of illegals have been deported. Even more positive, is that amongst those deported, half or more of those deported had criminal records.
Increased enforcement has stemmed the flow of illegals into the country from over 800,000 a year in the first few years of last decade, to around 300,000 last time I looked. Border patrols have been increased every year, and enforcement is at an all-time high. Another initiative, and one that's led to many more deportations, are employer audits of personnel records.
No question, we could step up border security even more if there was support for it. But the bigger question, is what to do with those that are already here, especially those with no criminal records, and those in the work force. Companies lobby to keep them here, because they love the exploitation of cheap labor. Those that don't necessarily exploit them, claim they can't find anyone else to do the jobs.
Due to the bad economy, it was easy for politicians to rally behind angry unemployed people that want them all gone this morning. But there's no real consensus for how to rid the nation of 11 million plus people. The hysteria has been fueled by groups trying to gain support for next year. Some even wanted to repeal the 4th Amendment. People that are now U.S. citizens that would not be if not for the 14th Amendment include LA Governor Bobby Jindal and former Attorney General Gonzales.
Yet another argument where there aren't too many grown ups in the room.
It's really quite simple.
Follow your constitutional oath, close the border tight and send the illegals that are here back.
LOL, I really hope Obama runs on illegal immigration being solved. It should sink him pretty quickly!
obama circa 2008, Jan 2009, Feb 2009, March 2009, April 2009, May 2009, June 2009, July 2009, August 2009, September 2009, October 2009, on and on and on and on, etc.
It's really sad. He talks about building moats, and totally ignores what's happening around him. States are trying to enact laws so they can protect themselves, and their residents.
Texas, Arizona, and Utah are trying to make sure illegal's are detected and dealt with, while the federal government is trying to avoid it's responsibilities, each step of the way. Why doesn't the president hear, what the citizens are trying to do?
Even Sadder, the laws of California allow for the ID to be verified on any person suspected of a crime, yet Arizona is told they can't?
While I understand what you're saying and don't necessarily disagree, I must ask -- should we strive to be like Mexico??
No.
We should, however, guard our border. Lock it down 100%. anything short of that is a failure.
My point is to lib/progressives who call "secure the border" people racists.
Read the Mexican constitution. See who the real racists are.
