I could have sworn it was completely different than that with a different president in office.
Republican Presidents are responsible for EVERYTHING that happens under their term.

Democrats are not responsible for anything.

The spillway was damaged during the test so they repaired it to it's original state and never opened it again. There's a lot of fear that if the river were to damage the Morganza spillway to the point where it couldn't be closed that the Mississippi would change it's course to the 200 mile shorter distance and take the Atchafalaya river all the way to the gulf. This of course would be a catastrophic disaster and the COE has been fighting this for 40 years. It will eventually happen one day, let's hope it doesn't happen this year.

Consequences would have been worse if morganza spillway not opened. It would have drowned New orleans . Our Oil refineries would have hurt or worse, mississippi would have changed its course. We should be thankful that we have an opportunity to open the spillway to prevent even bigger disaster.
