Unlike Republicans, Democrats have never tried to deny that they have members among them who lack moral character. The notion that we're suddenly having to admit that is ridiculously untrue. No, they don't deny there are dirt bags within their own ranks and I never said they did. What they do is so rarely directly address their own dirt bag baggage but instead deflect and refer to Craig, Gingrich, Lee, et al.
That is the stock-in-trade defense of Left Hand Nuts throughout the "Weiner threads" of the past 2 weeks, pointing out that since Democrats make no statements relevant to "moral character" (read "family values") in their platform, they are somehow exempt from any expectation to live up to the same kind of integrity that Republicans are expected to live up to. It takes the likes of a John Edwards to arouse the ire of the Democrat machinery sufficiently that he will be tossed to the wolves.
Hopefully Weiner will NOT resign. So far his constituents want him to stay.
