Of course the liberals think so. An election is coming up so it's about time.

Basically, Dan argues, Republicans are doing everything they can to ensure that the economy remains a mess when it comes time for the 2012 election.

Yet he drones on for 6 minutes in that video without giving one single example of exactly what they are doing to accomplish this. This is more empty liberal rhetoric that they can't back up with facts. They figure the window to blame Bush has closed so they'd better come up with some excuse for Obama's failures before the election. It's pathetic. Even more pathetic is the fact that the moronic Obama voters will buy it. The Blamer In Chief needs a new source of excuses.

"Are Republicans Intentionally Sabotaging Economy For Political Gain?"
Very possible.
Any improvement in the economy before 2012 would sure be bad for the Republicans.

I can understand people thinking that the party out of power has strong incentive to do whatever it can to get back into power. Generally speaking, that means either making promises to voters (whether they can be kept or not) or using other means at their disposal - like a vote in Congress, or state legislature, etc.

The article includes this:
"The first loyalty of any elected representative should be acting in the best interests of the country..."
If that was ever true, it's no longer true for at least some of our elected representatives. For example, the whole thing about earmarks is to funnel money to a specific cause within a specific Congressional district or state, at the expense of the country as a whole.

Both parties have done this; it's just a little more in-your-face this time around. One good example of this is the current debate over raising the debt ceiling. Failure to raise the ceiling could have disastrous short- and long-term consequences for this country, yet many politicians on the right are increasingly viewing this as a good thing.

the government willl still be collecting revenue, no matter what.

how is only spending the money you "earn" (through taxation) disastrous for the economy long-term? maybe if the "credit card" is pulled, the government would handle its income more efficiently and with less fraud. they would have to, wouldn't they?

how is living within your means disastrous for the economy?

the disaster is the insane spending level that we have now in the government, that CANNOT be sustained.

The economy is still functioning albeit at a reduced level. I shudder to think what might have happened under the direction of McClain and, probably Palin.

I do not agree with several of the President's policies but I will support his candidacy and vote for him in 2012. I will also support and vote for Ms. Shea-Porter in the New Hampshire 1st Congressional district.
