That doesn't make any sense. Civil marriage law (and the 1400 civil rights it confers) is a construct of our civil, secular law. How could it have existed "for centuries and centuries and centuries..." if our nation is only 235 years old (and most states much younger)?
Oh, and care to address what I asked of you a few posts ago:
"Most states don't include sexual orientation in their anti-discrimination laws. In most places in the US it is perfectly legal for a Christian run business to have a "No Gays" policy, but everywhere in the US it is illegal for a gay run business to have a "No Christians" policy. Any thoughts on that?"
Most of our country adopted English common law. Marriage as it exists in the U.S. didn't simply pop up out of nowhere. Like most of our traditions and customs, it was based on those found in England and elsewhere in Europe.
Religion is protected by our Constitution. Homosexuality is not. But in practice, what you claim is incorrect. Did you notice the example I gave of Christians being imprisoned because of homosexuals?

And when do you think England adopted your idea of marriage? Mid 18th Century. Congrats, traditional marriage is 250 years old! Of course, the meaning of marriage even 250 years ago was nothing like today. Blacks couldn't marry originally, then they only could with permission of their owner, women had no rights in a marriage, etc.

People are also protected from religion according to our Constitution, meaning your beliefs are irrelevant to this country's laws.
"The plot included a fake web site, news releases — even a phone number — all intended to falsely convince reporters and the public that America’s largest Protestant denomination had changed its stance on gay marriage. FOX News has more:"
"The release was sent to an unknown number of reporters and directed readers to a website designed to replicate the real Southern Baptist Convention website, along with working telephone numbers where individuals identified themselves as employees of the SBC Executive Committee…"
If only I was there to see the looks on their faces...
You are not supporting their agenda. They want to be married. Evangelicals such as yourself are imposing your faith on others by preventing two people that you have nothing to do with to marry each other. That's like me imposing my beliefs upon Southern Baptists and forcing them to drink and dance. How would you like that?
It's not about your beliefs, it's about the constitution and freedom of religion. You have no right to impose your religious beliefs and claim two people of the same gender can't get married because it's against your religious beliefs. You can believe whatever you want but where it's a problem is when you tell others what they can and can't do. That is what the Taliban does.
So stealing is OK because religions frown on it?
Marriage is the business of breeders not gays.
How about homosexuals imposing their belief on others that unnatural homosexual unions should be enshrined in the same legal structure as the natural heterosexual sexual unions?
They intentionally deceived to make others believe that another claimed something they did not.
Is that good when you disagree with your opponent?
so, lets say... If I take your name, cleverly mask your IP and then somehow fool Citydata into thinking that I was you, and then began to promote whatever political views I had through you, would that be GOOD? By your response, it seems to be so. So are you willing to accept such if it happens? Maybe If I did such with your personal name, you know... went into your town and displayed my personal views using your persona as such, would that be cool? Would you applaud me, and clap away my achievements? Please let me know, because I would love to have such a person like you who has no care for their identity and their position to accept WHATEVER I may do with such! It would be a hoot! Just give the word of your acceptance of such... and who knows... your personal identity may just become the position of your complete disliking!
I'm not a Southern Baptist, but doubt that they ridicule or scorn gays. Hard core Christian fundamentalists, at most, generally, feel sorry for gays and welcome them into the arms of forgiveness. I understand that many gays don't want to be forgiven; just accepted. But still, its no reason to call those who think differently, "scorners," etc.
Many "Hard core Christian fundamentalists" are continually spreading ignorance, lies, myths, misinformation and negative stereotypes about gay people to vilify them.

Any room in that dogma for free thought?
No. There doesn't appear to be any room in your dogma for free thought.

You should see all the "junk science" articles about homosexuality published on the net by anti-gay religious groups. They intentionally deceive to make others believe that their malicious claims are actually supported by legitimate studies and research. They intentionally lie, misrepresent and distort real studies.... to vilify gay people.
