Not at all. The libertarians would just leave it to the city or county government.

Yes. I knew it could not have been Cobb. They are proposing closing libraries there, which is one of the reasons I could never live there.

Not only that, but I can see a private library owner setting all kinds of ridiculous rules and requiring all kinds of ridiculous monetary payments in order to use the library. Libraries need to remain public and free for all to use, which means local, county, state or federal taxes.

I think you do not understand libertarian ideology. It is not just about the Federal govt. it is also concerned with local and state govt. as well.

"Public and free" are contradictory. Someone must pay, one way or another. I believe you mean the taxpayers should provide libraries for those who couldn't afford to pay user fees otherwise.

Ok, so no taxes for military protection.

There can't be many if you can't remember a single solitary name.

A libertarian may very well be personally against a public library in his town, but would he step into your local community and tell you what to spend your local tax dollars on? That sounds like the opposite of libertarian ideology to me.

I don't frequent these boards enough to remember what posters wrote what posts. Military protection would be paid via user fees. If you live here, you are being protected by the military and would thus be subject to military user fees.

And what happens to the home when the owner has forgotten (or been unable) to pay the "user fee" for the fire department and their home catches fire? Oh, we've already seen that, haven't we when one fire department stood by and WATCHED a house burn down because the owner didn't pay a $75 fee!

This is consistant with libertarian ideology. If a person claims to be a libertarian does not understand this, he doesn't understand libertarian ideology.

This is why I am not a libertarian. I share some of the same beliefs, but it varies from issue to issue. I am not an ideologe.
