People assumed its got to be a Muslim even before there were any facts. Truth is, there have been terrorist attacks by non-muslims in European countries before that.
Yep, happens every time a bomb explodes somewhere. Like Pavlov's dogs, they're conditioned to suspect muslims for all wrong doing.
Looking at all the chatter by Muslim groups it simply just looks this nut case beat them to it. Unfortunately they'll probably try to copy cat this.
However, just we truly need to wait till ALL of the facts are in before we start the political diatribe that I knew would occur regardless of the affiliation of the terrorist
Of course the 'debate' (if you want to call it that) is going to occur when people take the opportunity to start bashing Muslims and talking about all that is wrong with their culture before all of the facts have been brought to light.
I think what you said in the bold is what we all need to remember. I won't lie: I immediately suspected that it was a Muslim group that was responsible, and I agree that it's not unreasonable to have those suspicions. Radical Islamic groups have unfortunately brought suspicion upon Muslims. Nevertheless, this is a classic example of why people can't just rush to judgment. Moreover, I think a vast majority of Muslims are as peaceful as Christians.
Those who immediately went on here spouting off on Muslims should come back and admit that they got it wrong. In the future, they should go where the evidence and facts take them, not where their gut feelings take them. Gut feelings are natural - everyone's got 'em. Even libs. But in the end, we need to make decisions with our heads, not our fears. That has gotten us into so much trouble, with so much needless bloodshed over the past several decades.
That would simply be because the OVERWHELMING number of terror attacks in the world ARE by Muslims.
There is no denying that is there?
In THIS case,it was a crazy loon....
I agree that in many cases, yes, Muslims are the first suspects that come to mind. But not in all cases.
The Islamic world has its problems, but they are also greatly exaggerated by the Western media. Some of the most peaceful places on earth are in Islamic societies. The way they treat their women? That ain't for me. Got no problem saying that. But even then, not all Islamic places are as oppressive as, say, Saudi Arabia or northern, tribal Pakistan. Let's not use our issues with the Muslim world to take the opportunity to bash them every time something gets crapped up like this. Better yet, let's wait until the facts come in before we start deciding how to respond.
We saw zero apologies from the left, either from the media or the left wingers here on CD, for their mad rush to judgment that it was a right winger who was responsible for the Tucson killings and woundings.

I saw people apologizing, but even if they didn't, does this mean no one that has made a false judgement in this case should not apologize because "the other side is just as bad"? Is this high school? How old are you?
