The purpose of providing that link was to link you to the non-partisan, factually based report that debunks what the OP and the rest of you are trying to pass off as fact, it had nothing to do with what Dennis Kucinich said.

I posted a link right to the CBO reports, and IRS reports. Do you have something to show they are wrong? I've been through this with a LOT of newbies here, who all think they know what they are talking about, until they are proven wrong..
If taxes are to be raised, raise them on all income levels. The bottom 40% pay no taxes at all. The rich (that is, the over $250K group) can only pay so much. If they were taxed 100%, it still wouldn't be enough to get us out of this mess.
Tax RATES do not need to be raised. Tax RATES need to be LOWERED and then loopholes and deductions need to be eliminated. This is something that is doable, as republicans will agree to it and responsible democrats like Joe Manchin will agree to it.
You are absolutely correct that you can tax the so-called rich all you want and it won't be enough. But it makes for good vilification for the left to use, doesn't it.

But I'll bite with the federal income tax. Could the reason 51% of the population doesn't pay income tax is because 51% of the population doesn't earn an income?

And you have me mistaking if you think I'm a newbie. I stopped posting in this section because of some of the outrageous posts around here.
But I did, and it doesnt take a rocket science to know that since the OP is discussing federal taxes, the discussion deals with federal taxes.

Ummm, not everyone in that 50% is a part of the work force. Of course I thought you knew that, which is why I didn't go there.
There are CHILDREN and SENIORS in that 50% bracket as well. Do you want to send children and grandmas out to work so they can "pay their fair share" as well?

Income and expenses are ALWAYS measured as a relative to the size of the GDP.. whats your point? Are you pretending that that changes anything?
