I'm all for the ban if that is what they use it for...

We use social media for our business and would hate to not being able to use it but in times of need and the wrong people misusing it I would not mind doing without until the issue is solved and the bastards are put away in prison...that would include the parents of the minors involved in this...Where are the parents of the 11 year old and all others?

Punish parents and kids and take away their citizenship if they got it in the last 10 years, and committed a crime. JMO

Default Idiot UK Politicians Support Violating Free Speech and Privacy To Combat Riots

Riots spread across the United Kingdom and the politicians fiddled like Nero as London burned. Although when it comes to actually preventing and stopping violence and mass destruction of property, the British government is about the useful as a hardhat made out of tissue paper they can revert back to what they are really good at: Clamping down on free speech and enacting Orwellian violations of privacy.

I mean, when riots and looting engulfs (not so) Great Britain, who is to blame? The politicians and civil servants who stood by? The rioters and looters that committed the acts of destruction? No. Twitter, Facebook, and Blackberry.

In wake of riots, British PM proposes social media ban - CNN.com

It's impossible to stop twitter and facebook since you simply use dial-up to an ISP in another country.

Those who trade liberty for security, deserve neither.

They don't.

I find it ironic that the modern concept of free speech and other such rights were originally conceived by great British philosophers of the Enlightenment like John Locke and others, yet the UK is probably the least free free country.

All the real men in the UK were killed in WWII. The cowards were left behind to breed and repopulate the once greatest empire with a bunch of pacifist, hand-wringing Neville Chamberlains that are actually proud of their collective decision to willingly surrender their firearms to the central government and insure that they lack the most effective means of putting down a riot themselves...

*gasp*

...and are a bunch of commies.

Might want to work on your basic English grammar.
