I'm drifting more conservative/libertarian these days and I'm listening to Gary Johnson at the debate and he seems like someone I could actually support. I don't think he has a chance at winning the nomination, but he actually seems to represent what tea party folks say they want, but I don't see many of them supporting him. Why is that?

Ron Paul beat him to the punch, that's why. Gary Johnson is a relatively new face, whereas Ron Paul has been in this battle for a long time now. That's just my speculation

Yeah, but Johnson has actually been a governor.

Really? I've been lurking a lot longer than I've been posting and have read your posts. Doesn't seem like a lot of drift.

Anyway, I think there are a couple reasons:

1) unfamiliarity, where has his name been, where was he for the other three debates (not invited?), etc.

2) chance of being nominated = 0.01%

3) chance of beating Obama if he is nominated = 0.001%

4) chance of passing a balanced budget in 2013 if he is nominated and elected = 0.0001%

Don't blame me, I wanted Mitch Daniels to run. Liked Paul Ryan's interview on NPR this afternoon too...

He doesn't seem to be very oriented. Maybe he had a toke or two before the debate.

I doubt he'll get far this time around, he just hasn't gotten out there enough. I like the guy a lot too, he has a pretty solid record and it's actually in line with his talk.

Johnson sounds saner than any of the other clowns on stage tonight....

Really? That's a surprise. What's causing you drift in that direction, if I may ask?

It's just the last few days. I'm sick of the left's anti-business and anti-success attitude.

You're killing me over here.

You really think anyone is going to swallow that?
