There was a big PR event at the White House with Obama and the AMA,.....but the doctors in the trenches disagree with both the AMA and Obama. The AMA is overblown: only 17% of physicians even belong to the AMA, and that number is dwindling.

the AMA is not a union. it is a professional organization, like the NAR, or the AICPA.
and no, they don't need a union, but they do need organized representation. There are a lot of people out there who want to cap doctors' pay, while a lot of these younger doctors need high, market-based pay to help them pay off their exorbitant student loans and litigation costs.

Why deny doctors a union?
Working conditions have deteriorated, and patient care is suffering. Who speaks for the doctors? Certainly not the government.
Such unions as this? They would agree... Obama Care doesn't go far enough... they want single payer.
If you read the links you will find that the vast majority of physicians oppose obamacare,....WITH the reasons behind the opposition: "not going far enough" is not among them.
