Are Most Engineers/Software Developers Liberals or Conservatives?

Who the hell cares? Does it make any difference in the world?

Software developer and the group that I work with is primarily conservatives. I am also on the conservative side of things. I know of one liberal we work with and he indicated that he would never vote for Obama again and is pretty much disgusted with the state of the Dems right now.

An industry that relies heavily on government spending is conservative?

Not true from where I sit and from others I know in other agencies. Sure, there are some arch-conservatives and some libertarians, but the majority I work with have moderately-liberal to very liberal outlooks. Because we're politically diverse and we have to work together, we don't get into politics that much in the work place, but during the Bush administration, I heard lots of wisecracks about Dubya in the office. I haven't heard a one about Obama.
