Little boys and the sanctity of the power structure.

The media gets its scalp. I found all this talk from the MSM and op-ed writers about Paterno's "moral" duty ironic. Since the MSM has been pushing homosexual marriage, abortion and a whole host of dubious moral issues upon the public.

Who died and made the MSM the final arbiters of what is moral in this country?

Joe was fire for mishandling the situation, kind of a gross mismanagement thing. He looked past the abuse and hoped it would go away. What he did was a great disservice to the school and the victims. He should of called Sandusky down on the carpet when the incedent was reported and turned it over to the police, instead he chose not to push the matter.

That's generally referred to as managing the situation by . . . I don't know, kicking the can down the road method?

Isn't it akin to always borrowing money to discharge obligations?

A constant state of infinite discharge?

I think it is a bad omen for the U.S., that his bill has come due.

You can forgive a debt, but how do you forgive infinite discharge?

Derivitives! That's the ticket!

Make the corn-fed kids mascots!

Only in your world is rape of children as "morally dubious" as gay marriage and abortion.

Good point.

The PC era in which we've lived for the past 25 years wouldn't have happened without vigorous and proactive support of the MSM. And the PC straight-jacket which most everyone has been forced to wear - at least to some degree - has resulted in an unprecedented level of "looking the other way" and remaining silent about most any and all forms of repugnant behavior - homosexuality in particular.

I can't help but wonder if that grotesquely sad reality was a factor in the way Paterno handled this. Personally, I think he would have done more had it happened 4 or 5 decades ago.

Those Penn State students that were rioting on campus last night after Paterno's firing really need to do some sole searching, their largest concern was him finishing out the season. This went on since 1994 and helped ruin the lives of many children, in no small part due to Paterno's lack of action and they are worried about him finishing out his career, stunning response from supposedly educated people.

Another example of college sports having misplaced prioities.

I have some Questions .
Other than 2nd hand information , from another coach , who didn't call 911 is there some fact based information , that I do not see that tells us Paterno knew that children were being violated ?

This Coach Paterno ( I am not a collage football fan ) is a coach of grown men ( students over 18 ) Where did the little kids come from ?

What is the relationship between the young children and Paterno ? Did the parents trust Paterno with the welfare of small children ?

How is this Paternos fault ?
Why does all of this come down on him ?
