According to Gore Vidal, there was for decades a gay brothel in Washington DC that catered to just that clientele.

That's enough to get them in trouble. However, what gets the Republicans in trouble is the hypocrisy. These guys, and others who have committed adultery, have held themselves up as pure role models. They have voted for laws against the very things of which they are guilty.

I find this very typical behavior among conservatives. The suspect everyone else is guilty of the things they do. They are excited and incited to lust by pornography, so they assume everyone is, and are against porn. They are guilty of soliciting little boys, so they assume everyone is, and are against gays. They are in failed heterosexual marriages, and can't stand to see gays happy, so they are against gay marriage. They are adulterers, so they impeach a good man. They are involved with shady finances, so they spend $40 Million hunting for the crooked part of Whitewater, and are perplexed when they can't find anything -- because they assume everyone is as crooked as they are.

They want to keep their money, and don't give a rat's patootie if the poor folks suffer, so they can never understand a liberal's tendency to help the poor. They are after raw power and will use any deception to get it, and automatically assume that liberals behave the same way. As soon as they read this, some conservative will start blathering about how liberals use the same methods -- which just proves my point.

They need religion as a crutch and assume everyone does. They ignore their own religion and assume everyone is a sinner.

They are the most self-deceptive people who have ever existed. They actually think that things were "better" in the fifties! They can't believe that things were the same, except that conservatives' daughters were going to back alleys for coat hanger abortions instead of the clinics they profess to hate -- until they use them to "save" their daughter's reputation (actually, their own).

Hypocrites. The word is just not strong enough.
I think we all understand that some republicans break the law. Because republicans have a few bad apples, that, by the way, are shunned and thrown out of the party, is an ugly and sad fact. Conservatives usually suck it up...no pun intended.

Liberals....well, in my memory they usually embrace the idiots. Ted Kennedy, anyone?

Prove me wrong.

The party of George W. Bush can NOT play the "Democrats embrace idiots" card with a straight face!

Exactly! What better way to destroy the Republican party by pretending you are straight and conservative until you get elected. Then bring on the discrace!

Look at what a turncoat Arnold Schwarzenegger is. Had I only known he posed in gay porn mags he would have never got my vote!

I guess the lesson in all of this is, don't draw conclusions down party lines, because people are people, but if you want to legislate morality, which conservatives are all about, you better really know this person you're electing to represent you... cuz you just might find him in a bathroom stall next to you trying to touch your leg.
It comes down to respect, you don't have to agree with liberal agenda, but I can respect that they practice what they preach. Its hard to live a good christian life.. I understand this, and nobody is perfect. All I want to see is someone to actually embrace this fact and stop pushing a christian moral agenda down everyone's throats when you can't even live it down yourself... Do your thing in the privacy of your home and family, worship what you want.. and I will do the same...
You don't have to defend your beliefs or ideals to anyone.. even if they are conservative and don't make sense to us... but you can keep it to yourself and not push it onto society as a whole, because you just might come out looking like an A$$. Much like this man... just don't set yourself up for failure
being liberal on issues allows more openess to issues and social change.. it does not mean you have a specific agenda, it means you're open to all agenda's... Parties, especially republicans have made the fatal error in rallying behind moral issues in hopes of getting votes and it has worked for years.. now look what you got? pedophiles and seedy bathroom creeps...gay porn contributors and the whole nine yards. We americans are pretty dumb aren't we... blinded by what we think god wants... only to tarnish ourselves. who wins?

the funny thing is that on the front page of today's Idahostatesman.. it has a rundown of his career as well as opinions.. its quite funny to watch this. Idaho is so red, that the only dems to contend with are reps from boise and sun valley. Within the republican party here there is division as it is and this is just going to make the whole lot look bad. I don't agree with their ideals and agenda's but it is sad that for some people it has to be a smack in the face reality check. Nobody deserves that, but for the greater good it sometimes has to happen. I don't know what kind of good can come from this.. but the democratic party has never had enough control of things here to note any wrong doing or negativity. Although in years past, boise has had an openly lesbian democratic representative atleast at the state level, but she is gone now so who knows. It could be quite shocking to see what happens in this state because boise the capital city is growing like wild weeds and it is a democratic strong hold.. the republican leaders have positioned the two congressional districts so that it splits boise in half with the other portions of the state to ensure it doesn't swing the predominently republican rural area's
its pretty wack.... thats all I gotta say.

politics in idaho are not a representation of the people and their values. People here for the most part have good intentions and I feel vote with their hearts in the right place. The Problem idaho has is not the voters and ideals because we are just as liberal/conservative split as any other area of the country, It is more the good ol boys that have made careers out of being in office that are the problem. You can't rig an election in a state like idaho because people here are pretty patriotic and believe in what they stand for, but these good ol boys have been pretty good at ensuring their positions thru other means when they actually got elected, Now its going to take a much more overwhelming majority swing to change the RED reputation that idaho has always had. RED or BLUE is not a good or bad thing... the good thing is that people vote for what they want and believe and there is an equal playing field. The bad is when officials like this are in control and being dishonest and manipulating the playing field...
I feel sorry for this man's family and friends and I feel sorry for this man as well, nobody deserves this kind of disgrace, but I've started to think that maybe this will be good for idaho, at least for discrediting the good ol boy system that has had its chains on our state for so long. Now maybe a fair playing field will be to everyone's benefit.

I think people use public parks and public bathrooms for sex need to be locked away from society for a very long time. There are hotel rooms for that.

Now that is just plain, simple, cut and dried truth.
