Just watched the coverage of Black Friday shoppers!
Gee, I didn't see any of these Christmas-celebrating christians smile and say , "Merry Christmas" to anyone!!!
NOR, did I see any outrage from Righties over the totally uncivil acts of these rabid Christmas-celebrating christians....According to Repug "logic" ALL the shoppers were spraying everyone with pepper spray, they ALL were acting like animals, they ALL are murderers and thieves!!!
You are much stronger than I. I would not be able to stomach wathing coverage of Black Friday shopping.
Identical pattern to pledge allegiance being taken out by born again Christians and blamed on "commie"/ atheist/ evolutionists. Same old story of fake persecution and find a scapegoat. Curious what "religion" they're actually practicing when it so reliably apes the footsteps of the Taliban.
The war on Christmas is alive and well among materialists claiming they're Christian because they wear mistletoe underwear made in China. They're opposite of Christian but they're the first to point their finger at all others claiming they're heathens or pagans for saying so. One fine day clergy of all denominations will own the evil running amok in their own pews. I pray for that regularly.
The only time that Christmas becomes a war, is when Christians scream that its Christs birthday, which it isn't.
Just like modern Thanksgiving, Christmas is a time for families to get together and be together.
If you think Christ was born on December 25th the year 2011 years ago, you need help with the world of reality.
I'm grateful for the gift of Jesus given the world by my maker. I strongly disagree with preachers and priests who emphasize Christ and not Jesus in this holiday. The transformation to the Christ did not happen at his birth and it negates his life. The sacrifice he made, and the resurrection, is a separate observance we call Easter. Keep it there. I'd rather not call it Jesusmas to make the point that it is they who are technically wrong in their emphasis.
The precise day the birth of Jesus is observed isn't as crucial to me as setting a day aside. Old school Coptic Christians in Egypt celebrate Christmas during the week of January 7th to avoid Roman persecution memory serves me right. Similar story with other sects affiliated with the Eastern Church in the region. That doesn't make any of them wayward or wrongful in their observance. They remain true to the principles of the tradition in their own unique cultural frame.
How this holiday came to be brawls in American toy stores over the last cabbage patch doll is a cat of another stripe. These aren't Christians. They need to get over themselves or rethink what their concept of capitalism has cost them as human beings.

If this is what christmas is to folks, they're doing it all wrong. Note the absence of gratitude. Rob Whoville of every last piece of tinsel, somehow even cartoons get it right.
