I was with you until that last sentence. The stimulus was passed in 2009.
Members of the Tea Party got elected into the House for 2011.

Having member of the Tea Party in the House will not change what the stimulus money went for. Nor would it have changed what stimulus II money would have went for. Most of that stimulus money went to big donors of the Obama campaign, cities and states to close budget gaps and some money was used for unimportant public works projects like hike and bike trails, repaving paved roads and turtle paths.

The moneyed class wanted more money (stimulus II) and the House being majority Republican is preventing that. You should be thankful.

We're not a theocracy. The Bible is not the Constitution. Separation of Church and State - nothing stops anyone from donating freely.

I'm okay with ending Section 8, food stamps, WIC, TANF, SSI, and all the rest and instead do something like this for the poor. It would be more cost effective.

That money went to unions to bribe them for money back and votes for Democrats.
The action though is in the private sector, not in the public sector.

Let them homestead, and remove whatever regulatory barriers that are currently in place which would reasonably inhibit that process.

The puts the ball in their court. With that one action, every man, woman, and child in the country would cease to become homeless. The problem would literally evaporate forevermore from our country with that one change. The ball is then in their court. It's up to them to carve out a life through the simple application of skill and labor.

Small apartments and/or RV type FEMA trailers could be erected to provide the families a safe space to live in where they would have access to shower, wash clothes and see a doctor if need be. The children could be provided a libarary and computer lab to do homework. Adults could spend days looking for work or training for another job while kids are in school. And it really would not cost that much because the government already owns the land. What ideas do you have to help the homeless family living in cars? Or do you think that they should be helped at all?
wow! how big of a problem you think this is. first I think 60min. made this look like a much much bigger problem then it really is. I think most of those people just need to be pointed in the right direction, there is plenty of help out there!! don't need to do nothing more!

One can do that today in some midwestern states.
Below is the link for Kansas.

What does that change? They still can't afford food or medical...

They couldn't pay the property taxes...

For most of them it still wouldn't change their attitude towards life...

Some of them thrive on pity and hand-outs...

I bet cutting food stamps and public education would get these folks back on their feet again!
