The fun thing about slippery slope theories, people, is that they can go either way. So in turn, I ask YOU:
If we were to keep this going where gays aren't allowed to get married or adopt children, what next? Are we going to start keeping blacks, Hispanics, and Jews from getting married and adopting? People of different faiths? Interracial couples?
You can't answer my question with any more certainty than I can answer yours. Stalemate. Now let's play a game that involves more than just guesswork designed to make our opposition look like the devil, eh?
Tolerance of intolerance will never lead to more tolerance.
As for imposing views, the CEO has promoted the imposition of religious views by speaking in favor of them publicly and giving money to organizations that promote them regularly. This speaking out is what keeps gay marriage and adoption from being legal nationwide in the first place. The imposition is that which says, "Because my God says homosexuality is wrong, you shouldn't be allowed to get married". I've also pointed out several times on this thread, though, that "God" never condones not letting gays get married or adopt children in the bible. He only says that it's wrong. But he says MANY things are wrong in the bible, and yet all of those other "sinners" have the same rights as you do. Why are people going the extra mile to keep homosexuals down and not the others?
Because it's a personal prejudice; it cannot be blamed on "God". And the evidence certainly doesn't support their argument either.
OK, so if we're going to open up "marriage" to same sex, where's the next step? What if NAMBLA wants to open it to marrying boys? How about animals?
You think I'm being ridiculous, but where you are now is where they will be. Think about it.
Went here today. The food was awesome! I got the Doublicious chicken sandwich
Didn't you post this already? It's a duplicate because I've seen it before and I think it's in this thread, early on. But, that's OK. I'm sure you think it's funny.
Questions like this belong in Religion forum, and can be thrashed out to your heart's content there. Here, going into that depth is OT (off topic).
But if I may just say this much in response to your questions - they show that divide is so great between a believer and a non-believer, that there is no discussion possible if it's not approached with an open mind and heart -- and in the right attitude and spirit. I don't see that in this instance.
You're the one who brought the bible up as the "reason", I'm asking for you to clarify your position.
It isn't offtopic, or the whole thread needs to be moved.
Don't you know that there were no "Christians" in the OT times? The more some claim to know, the less they prove they know.
If Jesus is God, and they were worshipping God......
When Jesus was asked which laws to follow from the old testament, his words were "You know my fathers laws".
Jesus never gave you permission to pick and choose, he infact, said that he didn't come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. What he meant by that was that Jewish leaders of the time weren't following old testament law, and he was going to change that.
So again, if your whole argument is "well the bible says..." Why are you picking and choosing what to follow?
