Let's also not forget the 858 billion to force though the tax cuts to the rich extension.
I agree, someone has to live on another planet if they think the GOP gives a damn in even the slightest about the american people or a balanced budget.

In fairness, neither party cares about cutting spending. The Republicans just look sillier on this issue because they posture as if they do.

The 4 trillion in cuts Obama and the Dems proposed was smoke and mirrors.. The dems did the same thing to Reagan. They promised cuts but the cuts never came. Wake the hell up.. It isn't about Dems vs Reps. It's us versus an overspending, overcontrolling governemt that we have allowed to take over our lives. Stop listening to the rhetoric on both sides and start using your heads for something aside from a coat rack. Neither party is going to give us the kind of government we need without a fight. We have to take our government back and start holding our representatives feet to the fire. The lies and deceipt has no party label. It is all of them.

The GOP forced through 858 billion in new spending to extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich. If they were so successful and were "absolutely necessary for job creation", where's the jobs?
Tally the total net benefit of the Bush credits by income segment over the last ten years and tell me who benefitted the most...over 80% of the total tax reduction went to families earning less than $250,000. That is a hard, verifiable fact. No spin. Right from the IRS/CBO.

Daily increase in the national debt...

Under G.W. Bush... $1.46 billion
Under Obama... $4.1 billion

Buried at the end of the OP's link is this:

Temporary tax breaks, or tax rebates, do not help the economy," said Brian Wesbury of First Trust Advisors. "The money that is provided in the tax cut must be borrowed from somewhere else. Either way, it is not left in the private sector

It has long been pointed out by economists that temporary tax breaks tend to be ineffective at changing economic behavior. Why? Because people aren't going to make a long term change, such as hiring, buying a new car, etc. based on a short term tax break. Secondly, this so-called tax cut, with no offsetting spending cuts, it putting social security further into the red and thus contributing to our massive debt overhang. The debt overhang obviously is one of the big factors putting consumers into 'hunker down' mode and thus stifling economic growth.

Media bias at the link, and headline fraud by the OP.

The GOP is wrapping up Obama's reelection in a bow. Gotta love their ignorance of what makes Americans tick.

Only when it scores political points for the progressives. Ever hear the expression, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."?

Spot on for your observation.

Ooh! This really exposes that the emperor has no clothes.

I simply don't comprehend this logic.

The real damage is long-term. Politicians tend to think short-sided.
