I think the voting age being 18 is fine and the drinking age being 21 is fine.

So are you saying that women shouldn't be allowed to drink until they're 21, but men should be able to drink at 18? That sounds pretty sexist.

However, I think that women should also be required to register with the Selective Service.

Yeah, its sexist. But your last point is what I really mean. If a man can be called up to kill, get killed or maimed, he should be allowed to drink a beer back home.

Women should absolutely not be drafted nor should they be placed in harm's way or in combat positions in the military. That's just insanity.

As for voting, I'd like to see the franchise restricted to heads of household age 21 and over.

President Roosevelt proposed drafting nurses (almost 100% of whom were women at the time) at the end of WW II.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt - State of the Union 1945

If they need you, and not enough of you enlist, they'll draft you.

That way at least we have something to blame on any lame azz choice we may have made.

We'd have to be drunk first to believe there's actually a choice that isn't lame!

If you eliminate the right to vote for perpetual welfare reciepients, it would fix a lot of the issues that plague this country.

Note the word "perpetual". Being in a tight spot is one thing. Using it as a lifestyle is another.

Problem is, how do you implement such an initiative?

Thank god this is unconstitutional and would never happen. Essentially you are telling an 18 year old he can get conscripted and killed without ever having a say in the matter.

As soon as the draft is reinstated I'm there with you.
