We have plenty of affordable education. It may even be free if you are poor and can get the grants. Community colleges and state colleges for residents are affordable.

I live on a poverty level income and can't get grants and cimmunity college is not affordable.

Au contraire...having earned a bachelor's degree makes you ineligible for Pell Grants. So all those overeducated, underemployed baristas are out of luck.
And I graduated in the top 5 percent of my class (3.9 GPA and 1300+ SAT back when max SAT score was 1600) and the only scholarship I got was a state scholarship which many graduating seniors got and which paid a whopping $100/yr for books and only at an in-state school.
