Hmmmm. I thought it was Obama who was coming get your guns.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Republican Gov. Dennis Daugaard vetoed a bill Friday that would have allowed any South Dakota resident 18 and older with a valid state driver's license to carry a concealed handgun without having to obtain a permit…..

….Daugaard said the state's permitting laws are already "fair and reasonable."….

Bill was flawed. Federal law prohibits anyone younger then 21 from owning a handgun.

Sounds like a bad law. No permit required to own and carry a hand gun?

No, 18. But those 18 through 20 can't buy handguns or their ammo from an FFL, only from another person. A very stupid law. And anyone of any age can buy, say, a cap and ball revolver or any handgun made before 1899 (even the old cheap Iver Johnson sort of revolvers). The bill was not flawed at all. Vermont allows anyone of any age to carry a gun with no license. Those under 16 need only their parents' consent here.

That is another debate that fuels threads galore and throttles people. It's not black in white. Some guys take amongst their own liberty to interpret it that way. I won't sell someone under 21 a handgun. It's my ass if someone on the internet is wrong, not theirs. Feel free to do what you like. I ain't gonna.

The only Federal laws that effect states decisions, are the amendments to the US Constitution.

Your seeing the blowback from States, on Federal laws, instead of Amendments.
