So all the swooners who said hey it's just fine to punish coal and oil because we got natural gas what will now happen when the push to ban fracking marches on?? Like the article says this is pretty much a symbolic gesture by Vermont but how many more to follow? When there is nothing left but mirrors and windmill will you be happy? Spain wasn't.
You guys on the right always talk about "leave everything to the states." Well, Vermont just did what they thought was best for Vermont.
So unless you were planning to do some fracking in Vermont, i don't know what you're crying about. The Oil Industry pays people millions for advocacy and you're not one of them. If you want to be a cheerleader for the energy companies, at least get a check.
Fracking is a great example of a 1st degree stupid "live for today" behavior... permanently poisioning water aquifers (often in the dryest parts of the country) so we can pay $3.70 a gallon instead of $3.80? Very, very stupid.

Another great point, and basically the essence of this whole discussion. Americans are so damn incredibly short-sighted that you can't wrap your mind around it.
Another chimes in who didn't read the original article.
As for short sighted the cries back in the day were well it will take ten years to develop anwr and get the oil pouring and that was just too long. Who is short sighted? More nonsense from a lefty.

Seeing as Vermont has little to no natural gas reserves, its a symbolic gesture, and means nothing in reality.
I for one have never said to push oil and coal out of the picture. Its a reality that oil is a finite resource, we don't have enough of it in easy places to access it, so removing drilling bans are also symbolic. Is the OP critical of Republicans when they start pushing that empty cart as well?
We need to start using more natural gas, its the only real option we have for energy independence while solar is in its infancy.
Sooner or later, we'll have to switch to an alternative source like solar, our energy demands are simply growing to rapidly. Now I'm not saying that is the answer today, its to expensive, its to inefficient, and its decades away from meeting those challenges. But we have to start pushing its development now, or we'll end up in the same situation we are now. People said the same things about solar power a decade or two ago, and because we didn't make investments in it at the level needed, its still a decade away from becoming a marketable reality.
But the "war" on fracking hasn't started, so technically the OP is wrong.
So, what is your argument for the month? This side, or the other?
It doesn't matter what side he is arguing for, it matters that we discuss the merits and pitfalls of both sides.
