One common refrain from Black posters when asked what can the GOP can do to get their vote is that the GOP needs to campaign for it. Fair enough. That's what Romney did in West Philly. Speaking about education should be a non controversial topic but oh no, ROmney's mere prescence sent some folks over the edge.

Hecklers mar Romney’s visit to inner-city charter school in Philadelphia - The Washington Post

Quote:
PHILADELPHIA – When Mitt Romney came to an inner-city charter school here Thursday to promote his new education agenda, he received something of a history lecture about the persecution of blacks in America and the struggles of African American children to meet the academic achievements of their white counterparts.
Seeking to broaden his appeal heading into the general election, Romney was venturing for his first time in this campaign into an impoverished black neighborhood to hear the concerns of local educators and community leaders. But here in the streets of West Philadelphia, the emotion surrounding his contest with the nation’s first black president was raw, as dozens of neighborhood residents shouted, “Get out, Romney, get out!
Quote:
Outside, meanwhile, some brick row houses across from the school were boarded up. Police had cordoned off a full city block to protect Romney and his entourage. Residents, some of them organized by Obama’s campaign, stood on their porches and gathered at a sidewalk corner to shout angrily at Romney. Some held signs saying, “We are the 99%.” One man’s placard trumpeted an often-referenced Romney gaffe: “I am not concerned about the very poor.”
Madaline G. Dunn, 78, who said she has lived here for 50 years and volunteers at the school, said she is “personally offended” that Romney would visit her neighborhood.
“It’s not appreciated here,” she said. “It is absolutely denigrating for him to come in here and speak his garbage.”

They're just doing what they've been told to do.

They know he's full of spit and are not obligated to sit there and listen to an obvious liar. Oh yeah and the whole mormon thing about black skin being a curse doesn't help.

The one time there's no video. Why did this have to happen right after the SNL season ended

Mitt: I'm down with the Snoopy the Dog and the Tiny Wayne. I would be America's second black president in many regards, when I was a college kid, I would occasionally drink Ripple. I'd also mix it with Dom Perignon and call it Cham-pipple.

Romney may know math, but he sure as hell doesn't know how to fool people. It's almost a slap in the face fore him to act like he cares about our dangerous inner cities where the majority of the residents are black.

He clearly found out how the people there felt about him. For him to stop there trying to buy votes just so he could forget about those same people after the election is laughable.

Considering who he's running against campaigning for "the black vote" is a complete waste of time for Romney.

Yes, the 99% who voted for Obama last time around and will do it again this year.

Reminds me of Michelle trying to go to a Nascar race. Why waste their time pandering to dump people already set in their ways? (Romney pandering to the idiot urban Philly pop. and Michelle pandering to idiot rednecks)

You don't know much about Philly. The nastiest folks that I've ever seen when it comes to Republicans are our Irish-American working folks (usually referred to as union thugs by Republicans). Roms shouldda checked in with Sarah, she could have hipped him to what to expect in the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection (they don't call unions brotherhoods for nothing).

Philly the Home of Proud Union Thugs™.

Haha wrong city, Romney. Philly has quite the knack for exposing frauds.

So a candidate for political office voluntarily makes a trip to an inner city neighborhood for the purpose of making contact with the local citizens. And all they can do is tell him to go away.

“Get out, Romney, get out!”

Awesome standard to set for America's youth, anywhere. America's finest, in deed. Philly should be proud.
