This thread isn't about religious discrimination.
This thread is about the fact that civil rights are not the same thing as same sex marriage. In dictionaries, one of the definitions of civil rights pertains to African Americans gaining equal rights. One is born with a particular ethnicity and set of genes. One is NOT born with sexual deviating preferences.

Religious discrimination is partly why so many pilgrams wanted to rough it out in the boondox and start a new country - far from their homelands... so they could have religious freedom. They didn't come here so they could legally require society to honor their sexual deviations.

That may or may not be true, regardless, a truly free society must honor them. Do you not believe in freedom?

Most Americans are living in the year 2012, not 1712.

Gay men/women are NOT denied any rights that straight men/women have..

I personally do NOT oppose same sex marriage, I simply oppose the comparison to equal rights.. apples do not equal oranges.
A similiar argument was used by racists who disagreed with interracial marriage prior to 1967. It was dumb then and it's even dumber after more than 50 years.

But thanks for showing the similarities....

Since homosexuals form bonds but do not reproduce, they don't need to have their relationships defined by marriage since fruitless homosexual unions are of no consequence to society or children.

No one said it wasn't.

I said marriage was based on nature's design for sexual reproduction.

As you claim you are male and your wife female, your marriage is in harmony with nature's design whether you have kids or not.

A same-sex marriage would not be in harmony with nature's design.

A group of minorities are being denied equal rights and you're saying this isn't a civil rights issue?

What country do you live in?

And what it's based on is irrelevant to the legal recognition of marriage, as the ability to procreate is not a pre-requisite of civil marriage.

Obviously, marriage is not a civil right.
Only those brainwashed by homosexual trends would try to pretend it is.

The people of this country and entire world exist through male/female unions, so lawmakers saw need to protect such unions from which all society comes. Still, not all couples get married, again because marriage is not a fundamental right.
