I hope this message is repeated to all the new college grads who think that they have a sheepskin so they will rule the world...as long as they can tap away messages on their cell phones.

He's right. It's probably the first time a lot of them ever heard that "you're not special".

Too bad I can't rep you again.

Of course, everyone is not a "winner". But I have found that "losses" in my life have been very instructive and inspirational. The recognition that everyone is not always "a winner" inspires us to work harder and be more dedicated. I look at my life and my "losses" have always been more instructional than my personal "victories". This is what makes us strong and change strategies to be more successful in life. I had coached youth soccer from age 16 to age 42. I noticed that parents started showing up to games in my mid twenties, then practice in my mid thirties. By the time I was in my forties, these "participation trophies" started to appear. I told the kids to throw them away, as "participation" did not mean a damn thing and was a personal acceptance of being a loser. Some parents objected, but when I told them my views on the situation, they were universally persuaded that promoting and encouraging failure was not an acceptable path. What the hell has happened to America? If you lose, analyze the sources of your failure and dedicate yourself to rectifying these problems in the future. THAT IS THE ONLY PURPOSE OF SPORTS FOR YOUTHS-

a. try your best
b. accept that failure may occur
c. analyze what led to failure
d. work hard to rectify the failure

This is how we instruct children to strive for success in our world. Failure WILL OCCUR, however, we must analyze the cause of failure, make adjustments, work hard, and we will change the previous outcome. THAT IS THE PURPOSE OF KID'S SPORTS. Socialism and liberalism saps the "pride" that we experience in excellence. One must accept that there may be defeats along the way, but one must strive for excellence in the path of life. Liberalism, on the other hand, emphasizes that lack of effort and lack of accomplishment is acceptable, as it is simply due to factors outside of one's control, rather than personal effort. EVERYONE gets a trophy, such that their feelings will not be hurt, and thus perpetuating the concept that failure and being a loser is acceptable and normal . IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR ANYONE.

Liberalism is the new religion of losers who seek absolution for failure.

Well that's certainly not a message that they've likely heard before in today's coddling entitlement society!

I'm surprised the Justice Deparment isn't investigating this as a hate crime.

Ha. While I don't agree with the harshness of how the message was delivered, it's actually pretty great that someone said it.

Don't get me wrong - everyone has something they excel at, but in a work environment (for me that was the military), no one is going to coddle you and tell you your special - you're not. Just a cog in the wheel to keep the greater machine rolling.

Really now? A hate crime? That's very interesting. Can you elaborate on this please?
