While illegal, you can. It's SF, no one will say anything and cops won't care.

Even outside, I find the odor of pot to be more obnoxious than cigarettes.

To be fair, pot is less harmful than tobacco. Just playin' devil's advocate here.

So liberal hippies went from "do your own thing" to obsessive government control of it's citizens' lives.
Progressives are the arch enemy of freedom. Progressives love Big Government and the Nanny State.

San Fran is a poster child for Big Government and the leader in the Progressive's crusade to restrict personal freedom.

I don't think restricting freedom is liberal. It's Progressive.

TYPICAL liberal logic- Pot is oh so natural- tobacco is oh so bad- Both are drugs...I can stand on the side of the street with an unlit cigarette - a liberally minded jogger approaching will spot the little white tube of tobacco on my hand- and they frantically wave their hand in front of their face as they pass - as if to wave away the deadly smoke that might kill them on the spot...meanwhile they have blown a dube before their morning run and are in la la land...They smell tobacco smoke that is not even there..

Hi, lib/progressive here...this is not a liberal issue.

Crazed anti-tobacco lunatics do the same thing to me when I vape (ecig). No odor...but they see 'smoke' (vapor) and imagine the smell of cigarettes. Cue total wig-out.

I do it just to mess with them.

What's funny is that San Francisco is copying a law from its extremely hated rival 500 miles to the south.

No one in SF city government gets this irony. Then again they tend to be a dour, humorless, earnest bunch.

I guess I toss around the term liberal to liberally...sorry about that- I stand corrected. Smokes are over ten bucks a pack in Toronto- most of that tax- that goes into health care..My mother in law needed surgery to open up a blocked artery in her leg- She is 76 years old-- The young doctor smelled smoke on her while she was waiting in hospital for the surgery;;; Out of sheer spite he refused to do the surgery and sent her home- now she has to wait for the foot to rot off- and return to have the leg removed- Great....

Yes - smoking in time will damage the circulatory system- but the lady is old and smoked for 50 years...The anti-tobacco doctor punished her out of sheer spite...Mean while the old ladies smoking probably bought his his Mercedes...through hundreds of thousands of dollars in excise tax...or as we call it "sin tax"-

Even if the surgery let her keep her leg for even a few months - it should have been done- Having her quit smoking at this time would have only empowered the doctors abusive sense of domination over a patient..

This is as stupid as saying no molesting of little boys, unless you are gay. If it's a bad thing, then, well.... it's a bad thing. But then we are talking about the best and brightest that liberal thinking on the left has to offer.
