Should the government legislate what Christians can say? Would you like to see preachrs charged with a hate crime if they say homosexuality is an abomination?
No.
We should not make laws based on religion, though.
And if any sermon or statement made violates libel, slander, or peaceful assembly law? Yes.
If you take out the emotional component and look logically at the law, this should be obvious.

YOU don't get to determine what I can have, or what I call my marriage. Get over it.
God didn't create any word, men did. Our government has determined that there is marriage that is recognized legally. Homosexuals can get legally married.
You don't like it? I don't care.
The worst part about the vehemently against SSM is that THEY think they're the one's being persecuted!!! It's absurd.

Why don't you call it something other than marriage? Why is that word so important to you? It's not about rights and privileges at all, is it? It's that word. You want it, don't you? You want what comes from God, but you have to corrupt the meaning of the word to receive it.
So what you received is a lie.
There is no such thing as gay marriage despite what the law says, what the state says, or what the dictionary says.

Why not?
If your gay neighbors were married, would that affect your own marriage?
If your straight neighbors get divorced, does that make your marriage less valid?
Why so many people get riled about preventing homosexuals from equal rights under secular law is beyond me.
If your church (assuming you have one) doesn't condone homosexuality? They don't have to hold gay weddings there.
See? Problem solved.

stating your opinion is not a crime, as horrid as it may be.. however if say christians were hanging gays or running them down with their cars, then it is.
