It would be against university policy--right? That's exactly what I said. There would be no benefit to doing it either--show me the admission policies that give preferences to international students, and then lets look at the type of documentation the student would have to provide for admission to a program that did give those preferences.

What a clown. There's no panic in evidence, just some wild accusations coming from someone with no credibility and no basis to be making the claims he makes.

In case you're wondering, I didn't go to Columbia, I went to Michigan State. If you claim you were there between 1971 and 1976 and I didn't know you, that proves you didn't go there.

Interesting thing is that we know even that's a lie.

Obama's father left Hawaii in 1962 to attend Harvard. Obama could not have been two unless he's also lying about his birth date.

There are A LOT of lies coming from Obama. Time to sort through the muck and get to the truth. Obama's records need to be released. He's lied to the American public WAY too many times for anyone to believe anything he says.

Poor Dirty Harry. He starts the game of spewing stuff and expecting the one accused of it to have to prove it. Now the tables are turned. lol

I've thought for a while he attended college on a student visa and that is why his records are nowhere to be found. No other reason I can think of.

That doesn't mean if someone tried - or even succeeded in tricking a university - he would be committing an illegal fraud. That's all H.D. was ever arguing.

This thread shows once again that rightwingers have god-awful reading comprehension skills.

so, to re-cap:

the OP title is false. wayne allyn root never claimed he knew obama attended columbia as a foreign citizen. he speculates that obama attended as an indonesian citizen. for those who believe that i'd recommend reading:

Renunciation of U.S. Citizenship

Indonesian nationality law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

obama was never eligible for indonesian citizenship.

I don't have to.

I never argued that any did.

All I did was try to clarify the arguments being posted here.

SourD said that if Obama was admitted as a foreign student but wasn't, then it was a criminal or fraudulent act.

HistorianDude rebutted that assertion, because there is NO law against an American citizen applying as a foreign student. And indeed it's happened, as children of celebrities and diplomats have been students in foreign nations, but have returned for college to the United States.

MB pointed out how impractical a foreign student application would be in Obama's situation, since he attended school in the United States and was an American citizen.

But American citizens who attend schools abroad, and whose primary residence is abroad, have a different situation.

For instance, if Gwynneth Paltrow's son Moses wanted to apply to an American university as a foreign student, he could. Gwynneth's primary residence is in England, presumably her children will attend school in England. But Gwynneth is an American citizen, and she gave birth to Moses in NYC, so he is without a doubt an American citizen.
