According to a survey back in May, when Americans are given concrete knowledge about the specifics of our defense budget,
they favor deep spending cuts. The findings include:
* Nuclear weapons received a 27 percent average cut
* Ground force capabilities were slashed $36.2 billion
* Eight in 10 respondents favored cutting the Obama administration's proposed budget of $88 billion on war spending in Afghanistan for 2013. (Average cut: 40 percent)
* Six in 10 respondents favored reducing healthcare costs by having military families and retirees increase their co-pay for drug prescriptions
And it stands to reason. This country has spent nearly 1.4 trillion dollars on middle eastern wars since 2001, much of it futile nation-building. Calling these wars "defensive" in 2012 is to make a parody of the word. It's time to slash our
war spending, leave the Mohammedans to solve their own problems, and redirect these billions to reducing our national debt.
