Amazing how the right tries to prostitute the legacy of those who fought against intolerance to defend the intolerant.

Well, It's certainly no surprise why the radical right is defending the pastor...

It seems Miss Miller is also connected to Liberty University, which was founded by Mr Falwell, the controversial preacher.
The fundamentalist pastor achieved notoriety after the September 11 attacks, which he blamed on the 'the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians.'
Tennessee pastor Timothy Miller arrested for helping Lisa Miller flee to Mexico with ex-lover's child | Mail Online

As I stated in an earlier post, the article in the OP omits many details. Maybe there are reasons that custody should be granted to the biological mother or maybe not and maybe an appeal would change the initial ruling, but the OP is without a doubt...biased

Quite a few actually. In the beginning I really didn't care about the details just the overreaching issue, the rule of law and protection of parental rights. However the reaction forced me to look at the details and now that I have the argument of those who support the right reverend have built that defense on even shakier ground.

What the don't mention is that the custody battle has been in the courts of Vermont and Virginia since 2004 and has reaching as high as the Virginia Supreme Court which recognized the State of Vermont's holding that the Janet Jenkins was not only a legal co-parent of the child, Vermont's order of visitation rights and ultimate revocation of custody of the minor child because of Lisa Miller's repeated refusal to comply with the Vermont courts.

Funny how Miller didn't mind taking $50,000 from the "Jenkins witch" for artificial insemination. Funny how Miller didn't mind using other people to help her commit a crime. I like this article, it shows we don't live in a theocracy. The irony is when Miller and the child are found, Miller will be sent to prison and the child will go back to Jenkins. Looks like god's love, combined free will, don't always have miraculous results.

Oh my, when I first read the thread title I thought it was going to be yet another story of a religious man molesting children. Boy am I relieved it was only kidnapping.

Yeah, child abductions by zealots has a way of doing that. Take me for example, I had no idea about this case until I was awoken by its outrageousness.

Here we go, from my first post on this thread...

...but if this parent had a very active role in how the child was conceived as far as monetary and emotionally, then we need to have more details. By not giving details, the article lends itself to being biased.

Funny how these details were conveniently omitted form the link in the OP.

The worst laws in human history were perfectly legal. Respect for laws more than what's right is stupidity. I'm sure you would of been on the payrolls of the fugitive slave hunters.

No law that takes custody from the biological mother of a child to appease a pervert is just.
