First let me say that I am not an O'Bummer supporter. But where I live electricity is going down, the City with voter approval negotiated a new rate. Since he gets the blame for high gas prices, should I give him credit for less expensive power?
I really have trouble sympathizing with people that cannot handle bad weather while riding a bike/motorcycle. I have done it for years in a mountainous region that experiences all four seasons. I've been so cold that I lost feelings in my hands. And I've wrecked several times. Even so, I don't really consider it to be a good excuse unless you live in an area that does receive exceptional amounts of snow, like areas near the Great Lakes.
Even so, what's to stop people from riding during the many months there isn't snow? It is not like you have to be all-in or nothing. Bikes are cheap.
Defend Obama? I do not like Obama.

You two have obviously not lived where it snows a lot. Badjuju, you were doing that for recreation. You weren't doing that EVERY day trying to get to your job and home from your job when the snow is falling heavily, you can't see squat, and it's f-en cold outside DESPITE your coat, scarf, gloves and boots.

Get real.
I live in a secondary snow belt, south of Lake Erie, that sees a lot of lake effect. There are only 20 or so days of snow of any consequences here every year. You're grossly inflating the effects on travel.

I was going riding 4 days a week about 30-35 miles roundtrip. I know how cold it was. Like I said, I would often arrive without any feeling in my hands. Still, that could have been relieved with a better setup. I just wasn't that concerned about it. :P
