This thread is just a trap for people to express how much they despise immigrants "invading" their land , like their ancestors didn't do the same . The PBJ problem is prob set up by that teacher or whoever , the kid probably isn't that phased by it. That would be like me going to china and being sad theyre asking me about rice dinners or Italy and spaghetti

You don't understand this whole issue. The pbj statement is the surface of what's going on. They're teaching that Systemic Racism is the biggest factor in poor school performance by blacks and other minority students.

With any luck, enough people will read beyond the headlines and be aware if if their school districts want the racist Pacific Educational Group involved with their schools.

Wait a minute!!
Weren't peanuts and peanut butter banned in schools because of the miniscule number of kids that could be killed by the very presence of peanut molecules in the air???

I think you skipped the article and just tossed your own preconceptions onto the thread.

Let me give you the cliff-notes version:

1. Poorly performing schools across the US with large minority concentrations.

2. Some schools administrations are buying into the teaching methods of a "think tank". (By buying in, they are also paying school monies for this advice)

3. They think that referring in class to traditional american fare like PBJ is "subtle racism" and that by instead using terms like pita or taco or whatever that the students will perform better in that non-racist environment.

4. The bottom line is that they are having workshops telling teachers NOT to use PBJ as an example in class....and that is supposed to help the test scores.

Sometimes it really helps to read a thread before you start making comments that simply sound foolish.

On occasion, it might even help to read the article that is being discussed in the thread.

Also, making blanket statements about an issue you failed to inform yourself about doesn't exactly make you appear in a positive light.

And finally, this issue has nothing to do with racism, xenophobia, or the anti-immigration crowd. I, myself, am an immigrant... However, it has everything to do with common sense and the attempt to make American culture disappear in order to be as bland and "blank" as you can get so that nobody could possibly be offended by local traditions, habits, foods, behaviors, etc.

Hmm well I didn't think one could be offended by that . But since I'm empathetic I would try to understand and use pita or whatever makes one feel more comfortable

Point out the anti-immigrant posts on pages 1 and 2 please.

If you wave your hands any faster you're liable to take flight.
