A lot of people have already written off this election and are gearing up for 2016 as it seems Romney most likely will lose this election. Everyone seems to think that the republican party will have a better chance in 2016 but I'm not so sure. The republican base is getting smaller as a percentage and that's a fact. In the next 4 years how many boomers will kick off and how many minorities will become old enough to vote or gain citizenship? What will happen within the republican party itself in the next for years? It seems as if they're unable to get behind any candidate due to the fact that half of the party is made up of realistic conservative voters and the other half is made up of ultra conservative crazy folks that are unwilling to change with the times. As these folks start to die off will it allow the party to change it's stances on social issues, foreign policy and the environment enough to make it more appealing to younger voters and minorities? This shift in demographics seems bad in the short term but there's a good chance that it's what will ensure a future for the party in the next 20-30 years IMO.

No, they have plenty of young ones with the same mind-set ready to take their place...Ryan and Cantor types come to mind.

The boomers can't die soon enough as far as I am concerned. They're bankrupting the country by refusing to pay the same tax rates their parents and grandparents paid, they're greedy and have loaded the nation up with debt to pay for their retirements and medical care at public expense, and then they've pulled up the ladder behind them slashing education funding which allows young people to climb up the ladder. This is why the US now has less social mobility then every other 1st world country. With the boomers it has always been about "me, me, me, and screw everyone else." You just can't run a country that way and the sooner the boomers are gone the better.

They've been self centered spoiled little brats their whole lives.

The youth are mostly full of pro-drug, anti-war, pro-civil liberty types. The exact opposite of neo-progs like Obama. It's just that Romney is the same as Obama on drugs, war, and civil liberties.

Well, thanks a lot! I'm a boomer, 61, and my mother is still alive at 90 years old. Hopefully, I'm going to be around for another 30 years! HA ha!

Everything you mentioned above are things Obama and the Democrats want done.

+++ Raising taxes (on the wealthy)
+++ More money for education

And those are the very same things republicans keep opposing.

As far as social security and medicare, we have been paying into it for decades.

Self-centered spoiled brats, eh?

I would bet a million dollars (if I had it) that MY life has been so much harder than yours, you couldn't even conceive of the hardship.

Heh, my mother had a third-grade education; what do you think it's like being raised by someone with a third-grade education?

My father was a factory worker and we lived in a row house in a not-so-nice neighborhood. Seven kids in a three bedroom, ONE bath house.

There were MANY MANY times I went to bed hungry...

I started working when I was 14, just so I could have food once in a while and clothing.

My shoes almost always were hand-me-downs (google it, 'cause you probably aren't familiar with the term) with holes in the soles. Yes, I had to put newspaper or cardboard in the bottom of my shoes.

I had to quit high school in my junior year and take a full-time job, of which 90% of my paycheck went to my parents, and attend night school for my senior year.

I could go on...but your tender brain might produce nightmares tonight. Don't want to scare the little ones!

Too bad. I eat right, get plenty of sleep and exercise and take my vitamins. The vast majority of my Boomer friends do the same.

Cope.

lol. Sadly, you don't have any idea how foolish you sound.

Here's a clue: Nobody picks and chooses their tax rate. They might pick and choose their deductions (what idiot wouldn't take all the legal deductions available?), but tax rates aren't determined by senior citizens. What a fool!

It's because of the stupidity of the left that makes me giggle with glee to be drawing social security. I hope I do bankrupt and kill off every single person who thinks like you do. Just got my monthly SS Wednesday. I'll laugh at you with every cent I spend.
