Obesity is a national issue, and one of the bigger issues facing our nation. We need to do whatever we can to combat it.
Not sure about that. Obviously the short term medical costs are higher than that of the unfatsos but they die off sooner, saving SS payments, and don't get diseases associated with those in their 80's and beyond such as Alzheimer's. It could be a wash.

Are you sure that obesity is small enough of a problem to be a side show?

Because, last I checked, it's a rather huge problem engulfing the nation and costing businesses a lot of money in needing to expand things to match the expanding waistlines.

And in terms of the military, it's not a good thing when a bigger and bigger percentage of the population is too large to even consider joining.

We have talked about obesity for years on C-D, and I noted once how popular it was becoming to go after the obese, coincidentally enough, as we were going through that year-long stretch of hell before Obamacare was passed.

Let me ask you folks, what do you care if someone is carrying about some extra weight? Why does it bother you so much? Why do you post comments about how disgusting fat people are?

Have you considered you are letting yourself be manipulated, or even excused to target a particular group of people? I had a great-grandmother, long deceased, who made the same comments about Jews that people make about the obese today. I'm sure any number of you have relatives who made similar comment about blacks, and even today you can hear all sorts of disgusting comments about gays.

Yes, I think obesity is a sideshow, and people need to start thinking for themselves and stop being stampeded by statistics that seem to change every year anyway.

Well, I guess obesity is a national security issue if someone gets so fat that they start stepping on buildings and such....
