The "pro-life" movement isn't interested in reducing the number of abortions.

There are plenty of children available for adoption.....unfortunately....they are not the desired size or model.

BTW.....at $20,000 - $40,000 per adoption.....I would say that certain people have an ulterior motive for banning abortion.......BIG MONEY.

I can see why some people are diasppointed with the FACT that free BC reduces unwanted pregnancies.....less product available.....that does not bode well for the adoption trade, does it?

As for regular taxpayers like me......I would rather pay a little for free birth contol than pay a lot for more people on welfare.

Unlike some people....I am not fond on cutting off my nose to spite my face.

So, in other words, to you, it far more right and moral to apply your tax dollars to put kids born of poor parents on welfare.

That has become crystal clear with their reaction to this news.

They really hate the idea of women enjoying sex without being punished with unwanted pregnancies, don't they?

Never mind the collateral damage.

Obviously, for some people, feeling morally superior to others is worth the price of continuing the cycle of welfare.

That's part of it. They hate the idea of sex without consequences. But you also must remember that for many of these people, it is the centerpiece to their lives. Their rallies and meetings serve a social function. If abortion disappeared tomorrow, they would have gaping holes in their lives.

It also gives them something upon which they can gain a sense of piety. As I've said before, most of these people are uncomfortable devoting themselves to the poor - the least among us. It is far more palatable to devote themselves to babies. Devote yourself to "unborn babies" instead and you can save face in the eyes of Jesus.

I could make an argument that shows a positive for providing all sorts of things for free. First we need to note that there is nothing free. What the argument here is to have others pay for things for you.

I'll bet that seniors would be healthier if we provided "free" utilities in the winter.

I wonder how many people that we provide "free" birth control to would be paying $100 a month for their cell phone service?

Maybe it would be better to put more emphasis on personal responsibility.

Anyone else get the idea that Republican's have some serious hang ups with sex, ie: other people's sex lives? Hmm, maybe they just need a good romp.

So the right doesn't like entitlements and they claim charities are great...so why don;'t they open clinics and give out free birth control and eliminate all abortions? Seems a far better use of their protest time.
