Obama says gas prices were lower when he took office BECAUSE we were getting ready to go through a recession? Is the man insane or a liar? Gas prices didn't DROP to those levels...they had RISEN to that price...and then, after Obama took office, they went to almost $4.00 per gallon.

He's got to go.

His performance so far tonight reeks of desperation and he has already seemed on the verge of losing his temper more than once. It must be awful to have to get up in front of millions of people and defend a record as abysmal as his, but still...the lower gas prices were caused by the recession???? I thought for sure he was getting ready to blame it on Bush being an "oil guy", but when he went for that I couldn't believe my ears. Wow. Just...wow.

Go look at what the prices were two or three months before the election.

Who seriously thinks a president has control over gas prices? Do you guys think we live in a bubble and that the global economy and global issues don't have any effect on the cost of oil and gas?

The president has no control over prices of anything....but his POLICIES DO affect our economy...and that's exactly why we are paying such high prices for common goods.
This president WANTS America to fail...it's his goal. Make no mistake about it.

You keep right on believing that,..

Also did you know W brought the biggest rise in gas prices, and gave us the highest gas prices in US history? Expect that again if an (R) comes anywhere close to the presidency again.

Yes and so do Stimulus and QE1, 2, 3 & now maybe QE4.
Printing money into pure debt is a bad prescription worse than the malady.

The inflation coming may kill us.

Anyone who thinks the President has anything to do with gas prices is an idiot.
