Any links to back up your claims?

Since you are arguing the economics of home security, I suspect the cost of the gun is far less than the cost of fortifying all the doors and windows.

Our personal home defense is a monitored alarm system, a Presa Canario, and a variety of guns.
I was making a general observation, but I'm pretty certain the family had your standard locks that don't work. Heck, they didn't even have an alarm system in place. My point still stands. You first make certain you have an adequate first line of defense before you go ahead and purchase a weapon of last resort.

For the record, a glass break detector or sensor ranges from $6 to over $100. A new glock will usually run you over $500 online. I have no idea how much they would be at a gun store, but I'm guessing more. Furthermore, a hidden gun in an unoccupied house isn't exactly going to deter a burglar.

Proof huh? Well I suppose not every high school covers logic, who can blame you.

How about adding Mexico to that chart of yours.

Not long from the sounds of it. The intruder was able to flee several blocks away so it was minutes (6 minutes from start of call), before police arrived. Also, she didn't know if there was more than one intruder at the time. She could just as easily run into a lookout outside if she tried to flee.

From the pics I saw, it looked to be about 100 yds to the next house, enough distance for an intruder to run her down. Plus, there's no guarantee someone would be home.

The charts don't show any direct link to guns. That is, not all murders, robberies and assaults use guns. A just as likely conclusion would be the US has more urban areas than Canada and therefore more crime.

He rang the front door bell, and when he got no answer, he went to the back of the house (she called her mom, who told her to get her gun) she shot him thru the back door. (I think after he tried to kick the door in) The mom and the cops came to the house, they caught him, and he was airlifted to a hospital in Texas. He was released and immediately was arrested. He had been arrested previously for abuducting a girl the week or 2 before>
