That's another thing. Tax cuts don't show up as spending under reports like this. Obama has lowered taxes while in office without offsetting them with spending cuts.

So yeah, I have some bones to pick with the president.
lol.

First off, Obamacare IS the compromised health care reform bill Obama originally wanted to pass (which would have included a Single-Payer Option for everyone).

Second, now that the myth of him raising taxes has been proving wrong, now you fault him for not cutting spending.

Oh boy, this guy can't win for losing with the Shapeshifters.

This is a duplicate thread.

We already debunked this nonsense. Why should we waste time again?

Again the reason spending hasn't increased under Obama is because they are using 2009 as the baseline in this article. He didn't have to increase it because it was already through the roof his first year in office.
Please, you're wasting your time. They don't even understand the concept of Constant 2XXX Dollars, but otherwise good points by you for those of us who understand.

In his final table, gives spending growth by prez, minus defense and bailouts, based on the thought that a prez does not get to pick his geopolitical environment, and bailouts are usually a consequence of inherited catastrophes.

In that table the results were:

So Obama comes in as the next-to-biggest spender.

And as thecoalman points out above:

In short, the original MarketWatch piece was a deliberate fraud/hoax, and not surprisingly many people were taken in by it. Hopefully it's not to late for some of the early posters in this thread to go back and edit their embarrassing remarks.
Yes, we know, and thanks for taking the time to waste your time to debunk a something that was trashed months ago.

If we go here...

http://www.fms.treas.gov/mts/mts0909.pdf

...we can see a month-by-month accounting.

From October 2008 through January 2009....

Bush was responsible for $395 Billion in debt
Obama was responsible for $1.021 TRILLION in debt.

When the budget deficit exceeded the projected deficit, Obama should have ordered a spending freeze --- he didn't -- so he voluntary spent $1.021 TRILLION and you cannot blame that on Bush.

Budgetarily....

You mean like Forbes did? If you intend to compare Obama to Eisenhower, then you should be using Constant 1952 Dollars, unless you're suggesting that Eisenhower hangs out with Elvis & the Greys.

Resultantly....

LOL
Clearly you missed the fact that the 2009 budget was NOT an OBAMA budget. The 2009 budget was devised and put into effect in late 2008.
WHO was President then?

The first budget devised and implimented (and as mentioned, CONGRESS does the budget) during the Obama Presidency was the 2010 budget. The budget for any given year is generated the PREVIOUS year.
You spout all this verbage and you are not even talking about an Obama budget.

Why hasn't hotair been back to defend her idiotic assertion that Obama has been the smallest spender in government history? Oh yeah because it's not true. The article she linked to showed that he 's presided over the smallest level of increased spending since the previous administration which is due to the fact that Bush wasted tons of money too. In terms of actual dollars spent, well Obama leads that as he also leads in debt piled on this nation.

Exactly. Also, you know, where's personal responsibility?

Biggest expenses go to healthcare, military... maybe stronger foreign alliances and focus on raising healthy kids (Mrs. Obama's main platform!) would bring expenses down? Those things will take a few years. But right now Obama has to deal with what IS.

And which is why, obviously, a "good businessman" (ok, debateable, but the big pro arguement nonetheless) like Mitt Romney was not the answer. lol It's about more than that, which he did not have the empathy or big-picture mentality for enough different kinds and classes of people to comprehend.

Still doesn't change the fact that the biggest government spenders in history have ironically been Republicans.

national debt when obusha took office: 10.6 trillion
national debt today 16.2 trillion

obama has spent more in (just short of) 4 years than bush spent in 8 years
