I don't know about movement to the left, but the vast majority of the country has been pro-choice since the 1970s.

You know what? You just made a good argument for requiring the "baby daddy" to pay "fetal support" too while we're at it.

Why should the government/taxpayers help support the fetus and not the father?

Lunatics. The majority don't identify with them and they refuse to acknowledge why. Oh well, be my guest and keep digging that hole deeper, GOP.

Michigan Repubs pushing tax credit for fetus; eliminates tax credit for children
I'm all for it if they have enough sense to put the tax credit for children back in place. A tax credit for a child starting at the 12th week of pregnancy would make a ton of sense. My wife is pregnant right now and due just after New Years. If we're very lucky, the baby will be born in 2012 and we get the tax credit. If she is born in 2013, we don't.

One of the most expensive things about having children is the pregnancy itself. Tons of doctors appointments, time off of work, the delivery and hospital stay. None of it is cheap. Makes perfect sense to me to start the child tax credit before the child is born.

Just because you stumble across a good idea on accident doesn't change the fact that it's a good idea.

They are actually trying to establish full personhood so they can eventually outlaw abortions all together. You give a fetus a tax credit then it must be a person. Can't be aborting those "people" now that the law has recognized them as being qualified for a tax deduction.

Intelligent people know:

1. There are things called "periods" that you put on the end of sentences. They look like this: "."

2. "delusional" is not spelled "dulusional" and "hate-filled" is not one word.

3. You are full of BS.

A woman has to eat, whether she is pregnant or not. It may be a matter of adjusting to healthier eating habits.

Medical coverage covers pregnancy.

What preparation other than purchasing the necessities - baby clothing, crib, safety seat, etc?

Expenses are incurred after birth.

What if a woman has a miscarriage after the 12 week period? Does she give the tax credit back with the next tax filing?

Doctors have after work hours and generally on weekends. Most companies will accommodate women to come in late or leave work early for doctors appointments. That time is at the companies expense and I've never heard of a company docking salary because a woman (or man) had to leave early or come in late because of a doctors appointment - regardless of the reason. Women usually use sick time and vacation time after delivery and maternity leave is available. If you don't have medical insurance the entire process is expensive. Most people do have medical insurance (either full coverage or a deductible) to cover pregnancy - doctor's appointments, scans, prescriptions, delivery and hospital stay. Of course you will have some out of pocket expenses, which will be tax deductible.

Have you ever actually had a child? Do you have any clue what you're talking about?

Besides, do we alter the amount of tax credit based on the average cost per child ages 0 to 3, 3 to 6, 6 to 12, 12 to 18? Those costs vary a great deal. The fact of the matter is, they all count equally on your taxes and they all cost you money. Simple as that.

What if a baby dies of SIDS when they're 3 months old? Should this nullify the tax credit for the parents of the baby that just died. S

Stupid, stupid, stupid and insanely insensitive question.
