BEAVER FALLS -- A woman who was shot in Beaver Falls on Saturday afternoon later died at a Pittsburgh hospital, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office.
Kayla Peterson, 22, no address available, was shot around 3:30 p.m. and flown to Allegheny General Hospital, where she died two hours later.
BEAVER FALLS -- The profile picture on the Facebook page shows a young male holding a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol.
And the photograph at the top of the page shows two youths, each pointing guns at the camera.
The latter image was posted to Facebook early Sunday, less than 12 hours after a shooting claimed the life of a Beaver Falls woman -- and led police to charge two 14-year-old city residents in connection with the murder.
A third boy has been charged in Saturday's fatal shooting of a Beaver Falls woman.
City police filed a charge of conspiracy to commit homicide against 13-year-old Kyle Goosby of Beaver Falls this morning. Beaver Falls Police Chief Charles Jones said Goosby is in custody.
Police previously charged two 14-year-old Beaver Falls boys in the death of 22-year-old Kayla Peterson. Marcus Velasquez is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and conspiracy to commit homicide. Todavia Cleckley is charged with conspiracy to commit homicide.
So, what do you think? Do you believe that when "children" perpetrate serious crimes like this, that they should be treated as adults? Should they be tried as juveniles? What sort of punishment would fit the crime?

Any particular reason why they should be tried as juveniles and given only an 8-year sentence? Is it just because they're physically still juveniles? What if "rehabilitation" doesn't work?
If they're responsible, they're responsible.
If they're the responsibility of someone else, no, they're not responsible.
But those who are responsible for them, should be held accountable.

Frankly, the current penal system is incapable of justice, in this regard.
It may be a more just punishment to assign a lifetime of indentured servitude to indemnify the deceased's relatives for her loss at their hands.
They should be tried as minors. That is why we had an official age at which time someone is treated as an adult. We use to recognize a difference between the mental and emotional maturity of adults and children. Apparently that is not the case any longer.
If we, as a society, are going to treat children as adults when it comes to crimes, then children should have the full benefit of adults, make their own decisions, legally sign contracts, etc. Otherwise it is a hypocritical double-standard.
Either they are children or they are not. If they are children then treat them as children.
Yes! They should be tried as adults and receive the same punishment as an adult.
