My city leaders are considering making hybrids illegal. Some are convinced that the batteries pose a fire hazzard, and the high voltages are a danger to first responders in the event of an accident. There would be a $3000 fine or jail time for driving one in city limits. And considering that a major interstate goes across the city, this could be quite the revenue source.
I think its absolutely stupid and I don't think it will ever hold up in court.
I agree that it's kind of stupid, but why wouldn't it hold up in court? They would give people living in the city that currently own them time to get rid of them before it went into effect.

What do you think of this idea?
Let me guess: They also think that issuing concealed-weapon-carry permits increases the danger to law-abiding citizens, right? And that Obamacare will lower health care costs?

I don't think it would hold up because you can't force people not to drive a vehicle. Its deemed safe by the automotive industry so what makes the city officials experts on it? Course I wouldn't be surprised if some court said it was OK....never know.
