As sad as this is, it will happen again, and next time it may be something much more hideous than 20 children killed. Our founding fathers knew that men were flawed and that there would be challenges ahead. The fundamentals of the constitution do not guarantee us a peaceful and uneventful life.. Nor do they guarantee us security or safety. You don't change the coarse of a nation of this magnitude because one loon commits an act of terror. We will have more loons and more violent acts in the future.. This is not the first time this debate has been on this board due to a tragedy. I do pray it will be the last.
Then you are led by ideology and not common sense. That's the only thing I can possibly gather from your posts. The fact that you are resigned to letting it happen again is what's so scary. This is not just "one loon"... it's an entire culture gone mad. How can you not recognize it as such? These are happening almost weekly now!

What if you were to look at this overwhelming problem as a national security issue? Would it make more sense to you to get behing gun control then? My god, we already have had elected members of congress shot in the face by these crazy gun nuts!! We are destroying ourselves and our democracy and our right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." These killers are destroying the way of life that the Constitution was meant to preserve. Why am I explaining this... it should be obvious.

A gun in the home is twelve times more likely to result in the death of a household member or visitor than an intruder."
That's interesting, it's similar to another study I read where you're unlikely to die of a fall down the steps if there in no steps in your house.

Having said that removing access to guns is not going to prevent the type of incident that occurred in Connecticut. Consider this for a second, 19 people armed with nothing more than box cutters killed almost 3,000 people. If you have psychopath or anyone for that matter that wants to kill numerous people they are going to kill numerous people.

You need to go back and read a few posts... You are taking this comment completely out of context..

Banning guns will not do so.

They were on airplanes, a very different situation.

But if this school shooter had not had a gun it is likely that the number of deaths would have been fewer.

For one thing if armed with only a knife, he wouldn't have even gained entry into the school since apparently he shot his way through the door locks to get in.

And if only armed with a knife there would have been more opportunity for someone to tackle him.

27 people lost their unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness yesterday. Why is it that the gun owners are the only one`s whose constitutional rights are important?

Shut up.

You're only going to give them ideas.
