When will you be making these good solutions to Senators Boxer and Feinstein. I bet neither of them has ever thought of anything like them.

God, family, hard work, and discipline.

Why in the world would any sane person support limitation of firearms ownership for law abiding citizens?

What DO YOU BELIEVE IN?

In the real world you cannot control how people think, what they believe, how they raise their kids, or anything else that is beyond legal regulation. So that being said, what do you support in terms of LAW?

For the record, I am not anti-gun or anything... I have no desire to own one myself, but support the right to keep one according to state laws. In terms of reducing incidences like what happened in CT, I think we need to start with improving & enforcing mental health care. I also have to wonder, why do humans need assault weapons? A pistol or shotgun, fine, but automatic assault weapons? Granted, I know very little about guns (might even be getting these terms wrong), but that just seems excessive for a normal citizen.
Yep, you know very little since you use automatic instead of semi-automatic. Automatic means the gun continues to fire till you release the trigger or the magazine empties out. Semi-automatic means the gun fires with ever squeeze of the trigger till the magazine is empty.

I think as one who knows little about guns you want some kind of gun control, maybe even abolishment, so you could express your desires so much easier. What do you really want?

Media control. The media reports 24/7 whenever a tragedy takes place. The deranged or unbalanced person watching realizes he can be a "star" too and goes out and does a copycat or similar crime. Not to mention the victims family can't get away from the media to grieve privately.

What a ridiculous question.
Not at all. The obvious answer would be the Tooth Fairy.

I think they believe in anarchic vigilantism, heavily militarization of society, indiscriminate distribution of deadly weapons to absolutely everyone, and the acceptance of a bunch of dead children in a classroom every now and then as collateral damage for their "tough" ego-driven interest in hoarding increasingly deadly weapons.

Thanks for clearing that up... as I said, I "may have" (was assuming probably) gotten those terms incorrect. I've only shot a gun ONCE in my life, at a range with some kind of pistols & small shotguns. Couldn't even tell you what kinds, but it was fun for a day's activity.

I already told you what I want... sorry if that doesn't meet your stereotypes or expectations, but I have no desire to take your precious guns.

I know very little about homebrewing beer or raising goats, and don't want to abolish those either. Do you think everything you don't understand should be illegal? Now if you're just talking about CONTROL, I do support the current regulations as they stand - not even sure of the specifics in CA, but identification requirements, waiting periods, etc, work fine for me. TBH, this isn't an issue I think about very often, since very few people I know are into the whole gun culture.

How about birth control. No having children unless you can pass a test showing you're able to support and raise them in a positive manner.
You have to pass a test to become a citizen( or used to), pass testts to graduate school, get hired often times, get a drivers license. It seems like having and raising children trumps all of these.

Now this is actually a valid point... I read a quote on FB the other day, which was attributed to Morgan Freeman, but now they're saying it wasn't him. Whoever said it, though, makes a VERY good point IMO. It's obviously not the ultimate solution, as gun (and other types of) violence will always exist, but I think it's worth considering - and if the media would listen, maybe we could see an improvement overall.

"TURN OFF THE NEWS.......

You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.

It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."
(I will try! How about you all? Instead of bickering over gun control and liberals vs conservatives, these might be more productive suggestions)
