They should be because you can assault anyone with any gun. It's simply a made up term to "sound" bad. It's purely cosmetic though. If it is black with a flash suppressor on it, then it's called an assault weapon.

You can assault someone with words. Look up the definition of assault.

It was a term made up by another leftist, Adolf Hitler, in the early 1940s to describe a gun smaller that the machine guns of the day, which could also fire continuously like a machine gun.

Today, confused leftists use the term to describe any gun that is scary-looking to them, even if they CANNOT fire continuously like machine guns.

I can't but I know of an NRA member who can:

Quote:
Manchin issued criticism of assault weapons, saying, "I don't know anyone in the sporting or hunting arena that goes out with an assault rifle. I don't know anybody that needs 30 rounds in a clip to go hunting. I mean, these are things that need to be talked about."

Assault is a German word, or did Hitler make up words in English?

The only thing owners of Semi-auto or auto handguns and rifles have to fear is members of their own families getting POed at them. If they do not secure their weapons properly they may not wake up one morning.

Which will then create problems for outsiders. You do not need assult style weapons for protection.

No. Assault weapons are military grade, usually automatic and designed to support an infantry assault (hence the name) on a well defended position. They are intermediate between heavy or crew served weapons (such as "machine guns") and individual side arms.

Mitt Romney (the person you voted for) defined them as "dangerous" looking rifles with black finish and adjustable stocks. Like the AR-15, which is really not an assault rifle at all. And as you know he banned them in MA, along with high capacity magazines.
