We were comparing percentage of people who practice Christianity.

You are comparing apples, and avocados.

So you prefer dangerous and devout to safe and secular. Got it.

The North Koreans worship their leader as a God. So in a sense, they DO have a religion. Anything that compels suspension of rational thought, compels deference to higher power and assigns mystical or magical properties to any earth or heaven dwelling individual is a religion.

It is "Christians" like the OP that drove me away from the church.

As for your charge that you're trying to get people to "change their lifestyle," then fine. Try to convince people to be "not gay" ALLLLL day long, but do not enact laws that treat them as second class citizens.

I'm sure plenty of people think being anything but American evangelical Christian is wrong, and they try so very hard to convert non-believers, Jews and Muslims to their "Christian lifestyle"..... yet we still allow people to follow whatever religious path they choose under the law, and treat them EQUALLY. (For example, we do not prohibit Jews and Muslims from marrying and having children, which increases the number of non-Christians in this country).

They are so self absorbed and wrapped up in their own crap they don't realize this! American Christians have adopted an approach that does the EXACT OPPOSITE of what it's supposed to do!

Too much power and self-righteousness is involved, however, to ever think that alternative points of view would catch on. The business of fear (threat of Hell) and love of money is a powerful force driving modern American Christendom.

How would you know? I doubt you have ever even studied Marx in a setting that didn't involve reading a blog or a right wing radio commentator.
