a drug addict break down your door comes in your house shooting your family. you have a gun that would stop him from killing you .The door he is shooting from is 25 feet away from you. Do you kung fu him by racing towards him or shoot him from that 25 feet. one choice leaves you alive, one choice will leave you dead.
Sadly too many people realize they should have owned a gun as they watch their family die at the hands of a gunman intent on killing. As they die laying on the ground they realize gun ownership is not bad and they pray to god for themselves and faimlies
The solution is less guns, less gunmen. And we can arm houses, apartments with security alarms that go off before the intruder even has a chance to get inside your residence. Get a big trained dog that will protect you. We as the society already have too many guns and gun related violent incidents.
The NRA represents the worst in fanatical single issue ideologically extreme special interest groups. They thrive by promoting fear and paranoia. Every massacre of children increases gun sales for their donors. Today at conference, they were distracting public from talking about gun laws by blaming massacre on Hollywood, video games and instead talked about hiring more armed security guards on tax payer's money. An ideal business opportunity to boost more gun sales for their donors! The same right wing propagandizers discourage from talking about stricter gun control, funding mental health programs and ignore bullying that goes in schools and colleges that really do contribute to violence a lot more than movies.
They promote domestic terrorism. If the majority of Americans want the NRA disbanded, it should happen.

yes if convicted of a crime you would lose that right..just like a felon loses the right to vote
yes if you are COMMITTED to an institution because you are a danger to society you would lose that right....as the gun man in CT SHOULD have been...but because liberals say that institutions are 'in-humane', we have a major problem of people with mental illness walking right next to us

Cocaine is COMPLETELY ILLEGAL.....competely BANNED.......even in the smallest amounts....yet we have a severe cocaine dealing problem
every year our agencies SIEZE over 150,000 KILOGRAMS of cocaine a year...and that is only about 1% of what is smuggled into the USA yearly.

It's obvious that amendment is completely outdated and needs to be completely re-written to fit today's needs. That was also the intent of the founding fathers, that the government be for the people.
A few million nutcases do not constitute or represent the 350 million people of the US. The vast majority who want gun limitations imposed now.

I agree that they promote terrorism, but I highly doubt that a majority of the Americans want the NRA disbanded. That would probably violate the first amendment. Have you seen the polling on gun violence lately? It's become a bit more encouraging, but it's still only something like 52%-42% in favor of more restrictions. And it took 20 children being murdered to bring it to that level. That 42% is a lot of crazy people.
Right wingers have little respect for a free speech or personal freedom when it comes to minorities rights. It goes both ways.
Let me repeat. All NRA cares about is increased gun sales. That is their primary goal. They care less about safety of others even if they say they do. They lobby our government to prevent taking any measure to legislating new gun control laws. As the result, we have inadequate control on gun sales. In many states you can own a gun without going through adequate background check and license to own. Even restricting laws on assault weapons are inadequate. NRA has no business in making our society safer, just more armed! They are really only concerned about guns and money, not people.
Why do you have to bring minority rights into this post? Is that why you posted in the first place and isn't it pretty well known the people running around with guns in the inner cities and killing people while committing crimes did not buy their guns, they stole them??
you seem to think government should control our lives, I want to control my own,thank you.That is why I love being a true American...BTW, I have never owned a gun and have only shot one once: My cousin tried to teach me how to use one, I failed badly...That was almost 60 years ago.

you will sacrifice a constitutional right giving up your freedom in order to make sure only the bad guys get guns.
Outlawing drugs has not stopped drugs outlawing guns would mean the bad guys would get them,
so when you disagree with a group defending the constitution you want them disbanded what a left wing nut job position. well done
Defending one tiny part of the constitution they have completely bastardized to fit their agenda? Yes they should be disbanded. They block common sense legislation that the people want. They promote domestic terrorism.
I'd like to see instead of just disbanding the nra how about we simply ban all Special interest groups/lobbyists. We can make it illegal for our politicians OR there family to accept money from a lobbyist/special interest group. AND make it mandatory that when you leave office your not allowed to work for any of said companies who lobby for at least 10 years ? Also if you work for/or under someone in office such as an assistant/staffer you would only be allowed to work for a company after 5 years. You see that's that problem we have in this country when a sitting politician can resign and within 1 month or less already end up working in a company they were supposed to regulate.
