Men are DISPROPORTIONATELY more likely to commit almost every crime than women. It would be inane to spend as much resources profiling women for certain crimes when men are more likely to do just about everything more than women (besides maybe prostitution).
If white men are to be profiled, it needs to be for those crimes they are more likely to commit. Mass shootings is not one of them. There was another poster on here a few days ago who believed that "young people" were responsible for mass killings.... statistics showed, however, that the majority are over 30.
If you want to stop mass shootings, profiling may work if you can whittle down common factors, but based on RACE --- that will probably not be the answer.

Not sure what Sykes is getting at, but there is no such term as ''cultural pathology''. If he is referring to mass shootings being part of the white culture, then I disagree. White people do not raise their kids to become mass murderers. These people obviously have mental problems, but I will agree that this needs to be examined/studied as to why so many young white men are snapping and decide killing is the answers to all of their problems. Something has gone south in the white community and needs to be fixed. Many things need to be looked at and corrected.
There's a culture of denial and unacceptable in the white community, whites that partake in certain issues are swept under the rug. Mass murderers are usually white whether its at a school, church or whatever it's usually some deranged white man that most white America tries to separate themselves from but if this incident was done by a black person all hell would break lose, white people would live in more fear, 24 7 speeches about getting it together and so forth.

Well, we don't know if Adam Lanza was bullied, even though I wouldn't be surprised if he was. But one factor common to many of these school shooters is that they were bullied. I watched a show yesterday about the Timothy McVeigh taped interviews,--- and even he mentioned that a lot of his rage, which found an outlet on blaming the federal government, was really a response to being bullied in high school.
And you might say, oh, so someone gets bullied, and then they go beserk and shoot up a school? uh. yeah.
Not sure why you are rolling your eyes, when the NYC incident came up in 2011 and early 2012, it said the whites stopped had a higher percentage of illegal weapons and drugs.
