Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the US Attorney General can add any "semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General." Note that Obama's pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, "there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event." In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public. The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn't have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose -- is that devious or what? And of course, "sporting purpose" is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent. Respectfully submitted, Alan Korwin, Author Gun Laws of America

The authors and supporters of this draconian proposal are truely enemies of freedom and enemies of truth and ethics.

So many gun owners out there, but some of them who love their handgun like a Beretta, Glock or whatever semi auto who think they are immune to this ban will find out the hard way. The thing is though, if this bill did pass as written, once those who thought they are immune because they don't have a AR or AK find out their handgun is banned also there will be some angry.....angry people out there.

I remember certain Democrat supporters like cheligirl, Artisan, pullmyfinger and a few others saying before the election "your guns are safe" calling us paranoid but NOW these same people openly post "we are comin' for them".

What does that show? That they can't even be open about their agenda that they have to lie to win a election before we are shown their true intentions.

If these are banned from use by me then they should be banned from law enforcement or government from ever being deployed against me.

While Feinstein deserves the criticsm , she didn't write this herself. What we should have access to is the lawyers and those who gathered the info and wrote the bill itself, they should be exposed because I am sure some of them own a gun they wrote to be banned.

These are the elitists, the socialist democratic elitists who would make themselves the 1%. Any blue dog everyday democrat should see what some in their party are really about.

Perhaps if the gun owners who want to possess firearms with huge amounts of firepower had been a bit more open to civil discussion about reasonable controls and background checks for them (such as are currently required for fully automatic weapons) instead of following the shrill screeching of the NRA and Wayne LaPierre (who does an excellent job of slobbering on national TV), there would be no such list under discussion now.

With freedom comes responsibility. If the gun owners won't exercise it, it is the government's prerogative to do so.

There is not a firearm on that list that would normally be considered a sporting arm (yes, I realize you can hunt deer with an Ar-15 or an AK-47. You can also hunt them with a .600 nitro express or an RPG). Conversation's on, folks, whether or not you choose to participate. But it is a sure bet that there will be changes made to see if they have an impact (Yes, I've heard all the blather before. I worked as a gunsmith for nearly four years).
