I do not understand why, after seniors have been demonized so much, the payroll tax on SS was reduced for the period of time that it was. All of the wailing has been about not having money to fund SS so, they reduce the tax on it.....HELLO ! Stupid, stupid !
I pay a drug premium every month that I don't use but for one drug because all of the others have become generics and I only pay $4.00 for each. The gov't is making a nice bundle off of me and several others that I know of. I have to use generics and Medicaid recipients, that do not pay a premium, can only use brand name drugs....go figure.
I pay for my Medicare coverage. But, the payments to the doctors is so low, I expect to stop having tests or others things offered in the very near future, if I manage to keep my doctor.
I agree that Repubs want to make the SS program and Medicare go away but, I also think the Dems aren't too far behind. Kind of makes me feel a little unloved and unwanted.....LOL.
The GOP is demanding entitlement cuts for a raising of the debt ceiling, does this mean that the GOP will finally say how much they want to cut entitlement spending?
I guess you think that Social Security and Medicare are both entitlements. The only people I hear calling them that are always leaners. I have been paying into Social Security for about 68 years and most people who get entitlements have never paid a penny to get them. I have paid on Medicare for all 47 years of its existence so don't consider that an entitlement, either. Now Medicaid that is extended to people who haven't paid any kind of taxes sure as hell is an entitlement.
I think it is past time for you of the left to find out what entitlement really means.
Increased income taxes on the wealthy. ie Bush cuts need to expire for $250K income earners.
Close corporate tax loopholes
Major cuts in defense.
Medicare reforms that target cuts to medical providers, and some sensible patient care rationing.
Cut foreign aid, especially to Israel
Cut farm subsidies.
Eliminate Social Security income tax cap on high wage earners, raise payroll tax on all to make up the remainder of the difference.
I have some problems with you saying that all those high wage earners should have to pay SS taxes on all they make and at the same time saying they need to pay higher income taxes on the same money. I wonder if you really know what you are saying.
I repped old Dale for saying so many good things and you don't understand his good words. I think maybe you are like most leaners in what you believe and why.

Hey, thanks.
It's fun to watch libbies get defensive when they get caught spouting off on a subject about which they know nothing.

The Democrats are not saying that. Obama has made no proposals to fully fund Medicare and partially defunded SS for two years.
The unfunded liabilities of Medicare make our national debt look insignificant.
In four years the liberals hero has done nothing to shore up Medicare and has reduced money going into SS. The liberals would be screaming if GW had cut payments into SS.
